Commercial Lamination – Large Format

Commercial Lamination : Single Sheet Method

This method of commercial lamination is what we call ‘single sheet lamination’ and is traditionally used for photographs and art prints that are already individually trimmed to size. However, it can also be applied to large single panels that have been printed on a flatbed printer and hence provided in sheets rather than on a roll.

Due to the increased handling time of single sheets of media compared to a roll-to-roll laminating method, a longer working time is necessary as a more specific and individual processing approach is employed.

Costs vary depending on length, type of laminate used and if trimming is required or not.

Laminates that we use for our signage and commercial print single sheet lamination are:

  • Gloss
  • High-Gloss
  • Matte
  • Textured (Sandtex)
  • Anti-Graffiti

The maximum width of our laminates is 1300mm!

Commercial Lamination : Roll-to-Roll Method

This method of commercial lamination is what we call ‘roll-to-roll lamination’ and is usually applied for higher volume jobs and large format printing.

We advise our customers to supply us with their media untrimmed and if possible on a 3.5 inch core. This reduces the processing time as it does not require handling each print individually.

Costs vary depending on size, type of laminate used and if trimming is required or not.

Laminates that we use for our signage and commercial print roll-to-roll lamination are:

  • Gloss
  • Satin
  • Matte
  • Textured (Sandtex)
  • Anti-Graffiti
  • Floor Laminate

The maximum width of our laminates is 1300mm!

Double-Sided Lamination

‘Double-sided lamination’ or ‘encapsulation’ are terms that describe a laminating technique that is usually used for outdoor applications or where enhanced protection is needed.

Typical products for encapsulation are real estate signs or weather-exposed architectural drawings.

This method of lamination requires the print to be ‘sandwiched’ in between two protective film layers with an optional overlapping border to ‘seal’ all around the image.

Costs vary depending on size, type of laminate used and if trimming is required or not.

Please note: We do not hot encapsulate (cold only).
